A Seinfeld Episode describing 'Taking The Juice For Free'
(Jerry, George)
ACT ONE
SCENE B
INT. JERRY'S APARTMENT - DAY (1)
JERRY TALKING TO GEORGE, WHO IS SITTING ON THE COUCH.
GEORGE LOOKS DISTRESSED.
JERRY
So what happened?
GEORGE
Well, we were sitting there and he just
starts talking about some sports event he
missed that he was really upset he couldn't
watch. The soccer championship or something. Well,
I was bored out of my mind and not really paying
attention and I think I ended up telling him that
I was at the event.
JERRY
That you were at the event?
GEORGE
Yes! At the event.
JERRY
And then what?
GEORGE
Well, he started getting all excited asking me "Really?
You were there? How awesome is that!" I couldn't
turn back, Jerry! I told him I was there. I had to
keep going with my story. And he kept getting more
and more excited. And I kept getting more and more
nervous.
JERRY
So you finally told him that you made it up, right?
GEORGE
What? How could I? He was too excited!
JERRY
(EXASPERATED) You didn't tell him? You didn't tell
him that you weren't at the game? You know what you
did, don't you?
GEORGE
I know, I lied.
JERRY
No - you didn't just lie. You took the juice for free!
GEORGE
(LOOKS AT THE REFRIGERATOR) I what?
JERRY
The juice! You took the juice for free. He had it, you
stole it. You took it!
GEORGE
I did not take the juice for free! I am not a juice taker.
Never have been, never will be! I am not a juice taker.
KRAMER ENTERS. SEES GEORGE SITTING ON THE COUCH, SWEATING.
KRAMER
(TO JERRY) What's going on here?
JERRY
George took the juice for free!
KRAMER
(TO GEORGE) I always knew you were a juice taker!
GEORGE
No I'm not!
KRAMER
(TO GEORGE) Ooooohhh yeaaa! You're a juice taker. Look
at yourself. You go around telling people how you saw
this, how you were at that. You never have any
consideration for the other person's feelings. How low
have you sunk? Juice takers are the worst kind of people!
GEORGE
(GETS UP, LOOKS AROUND THE ROOM, PANICKING) I am
not a juice taker! Not a juice taker!
GEORGE RUNS OUT OF THE APARTMENT.
CUT TO:
(Jerry, Elaine)
ACT ONE
SCENE C
INT. COFFEE SHOP - DAY (1)
ELAINE
So what's going on with what's her name?
JERRY
Tanya?
ELAINE
Yea, Tanya.
JERRY
Oh, nothing. We broke up.
ELAINE
You broke up? Why?
JERRY
She had weird knuckles.
ELAINE
Weird knuckles? What's wrong with you?
JERRY
Her knuckles were just weird. They were like
hockey player knuckles. Big, blue, bruised, ugly.
ELAINE
So what?
JERRY
What do you mean so what? Every time I held her hand.
Every time she handed me something, I had to look at
them. It's no fun having to look at ugly knuckles.
ELAINE
So you broke up with her because she had ugly
knuckles?
JERRY
I can't date a girl with ugly knuckles, Elaine!
ELAINE SHAKES HER HEAD WITH DISAPPROVAL.
KRAMER ENTERS. SITS DOWN NEXT TO ELAINE.
JERRY
(TO KRAMER) What's going on?
KRAMER
Nothing. I still can't believe what
George did.
ELAINE
What did George do?
GEORGE ENTERS. SITS DOWN.
JERRY/KRAMER STARE AT HIM.
GEORGE
(TO JERRY/KRAMER) What?
JERRY
(TO ELAINE) George was having a conversation
with someone yesterday who was telling George
about a soccer game that he missed seeing on TV.
George told him that he actually was at the game.
ELAINE
Yea, so what's wrong with that?
JERRY
Well, our pal Georgy-boy was never there. He
proceeded to make up a whole story about a soccer
game that he never attended. The person he was
talking to, of course, got excited, got his juices
flowing. You know what that's called, Elaine?
ELAINE
(TO GEORGE) You took the juice for free!
GEORGE
GETS UP.
I did not take the juice for free! I DID NOT
TAKE THE JUICE FOR FREE!
GEORGE RUNS OUT OF THE COFFEE SHOP.
